Joon Design Studio is owned and operated by Mike Bernier. Born in South Korea and raised in New England, Mike seeks harmony in competing dualities. His work balances traditional woodworking techniques, and modern, forward-thinking designs. Mike is a graduate of The George Washington University with a degree in Business Administration & Marketing, as well as the acclaimed North Bennet Street School, where he graduated with the Distinguished Graduate Award in Preservation Carpentry.

Mike has spent much of his prior career restoring, preserving, and reproducing woodworking from the past; he now continues these classic methods in designs built for the present and future. His piecesjuxtapose ideas like then and now, elegance and wabi-sabi, industrial and natural, or Northeast and Far East. Mike resides in Southern Maine with his partner, Johnny, and loyal dog, Roberta.
